The impact of a herniated disc on spinal movements in the sagittal plane
Slámová, Martina ; Oplatková, Lenka (advisor) ; Demeková, Júlia (referee)
This research thesis with one case study focuses on the impact of a herniated disc on spinal movements in the sagittal plane. The theoretical section describes the anatomy and kinesiology of the intervertebral disc, spinal kinesiology with an emphasis on analysing movements in the sagittal plane. Furthermore, it presents insights into the influence of an intervertebral disc herniation on spinal movements and examines the correlation between posture and disc herniation. The aim of the research paper is to summarize the existing knowledge, particularly regarding the effect of a disc herniation on spinal movements in the sagittal plane. In the practical part, a case study of a single subject with a lumbar herniated disc is presented. This subject underwent two examinations with a six-week interval, aiming to evaluate the impact of improved trunk stability using the Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) method on spinal parameters and their development in the sagittal plane. Objective evaluation methods include the Thomayer test, Schober's test, Stibor's test, selected functional tests according to DNS, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire, and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain assessment. Kinesiological examinations were performed for standing and walking, and...
Physiotherapy procedures in patients after disc surgery in lumbar spine
Kozohorská, Václava ; Babková, Lenka (advisor) ; Horáček, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis focuses on problems of physiotherapy procedures after a surgery of intervertebral disc in the meaning of intensity, timing and therapeutic procedures. In the general part it gives comprehensive overview about functional anatomy, kinesiologi, biomechanics of the spine and about the function of intervertebral disk. It also deals with methods of investigation and surgical interventions. In the special part, the thesis focuses on the most appropriate choice of timing, intesity and mainly on special methods which are the most commonly used in patients after surgery of intervertebral disc. It gives the basic charakteristics of each special methods in relation to patients after surgery of intervertebral disc. The practical part of this thesis includes patient case report after surgery of intervertebral disc which describes the examination before neurosurgical intervention, surgery, hospitalization and outpatient rehabilitation.
Effectiveness of conservative treatment of lumbar disc herniation
Bláhová, Zuzana ; Demeková, Júlia (advisor) ; Hojková, Klára (referee)
Bibliographic identification BLÁHOVÁ, Zuzana. Effectiveness of conservative treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Prague: Charles University, 2nd Faculty of medicine, Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, 2019. 90 pages. Supervisor: Mgr. Júlia Demeková Abstract This bachelor's thesis deals with a topic of diagnostic and therapy of a lumbar disc herniation. A brief description of anatomy and biomechanics of lumbar spine and intervertebral disc is provided in the theoretical findings outline. Also differential diagnostic and therapy options of this disease are clarified there. The aim of the thesis is to confirm the effectiveness of conservative treatment in terms of physiotherapy intervention, and to compare the effectiveness of two methods - McKenzie (MDT) and Dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS). Sixteen patients treated by MDT and four others treated by DNS participated in the experimental part of my thesis. I created a questionnaire in order to obtain data from the patients, in which they filled in intensity of pain on the numerical scale of pain (0-10) at that moment. They also completed the Czech version of the Roland-Morris disability questionnaire, which evaluated their degree of disability at the same time. The questionnaire was filled in twice, at the beginning of the therapy and...
Using the McKenzie method for the herniated intervertebral disc in the lumbar region
OULICKÁ, Dominika
This bachelor thesis deals with utilization of McKenzie method for herniated intervertebral disk in the lumbar region of back as this disease is a common problem nowadays. Its aim is diagnostics of vertebrogenic disorders, characteristic of McKenzie method and its use during therapy and prevention of herniation intervertebral disk in the lumbar region of back. In the theoretical part I have described basic relevant knowledge about spine anatomy including ligaments, muscles and nerves of lumbar region. Also, I have focused on spine pathologies and pain. The practical part consists of McKenzie method characteristic with a description of single syndromes including their treatment and prevention. Furthermore, there are listed physical examinations and set of exercises according to McKenzie method. These findings and its efficiency are examined in three cases reports. The cases reports are performed with the aid of specific protocols which are fundamentally used by McKenzie method experts during assessment examination and controlling therapies. Significant asset of the thesis is its actualization regarding current knowledge of McKenzie method as the only one from all available dissertations. In the publicly accessible academic literature, there are outdated facts which are further copied to other theses. This thesis is written under surveillance of authorized McKenzie method specialist Mgr. Lucie Sucha Cert. MDT, who professionally conducted me and advised me on description and use of the most up-to-date information about McKenzie method in this thesis, which can be inspiration for other physiotherapists who are interested in this method. Even though, the research sample is not significant, it concludes that the method is 100% effective in resolving patients symptoms in a very short time. Therefore, patients with less severe diagnosis could be cured even more rapidly. The essence is a regular and proper autotherapy. Such results would not be achieved without it.

Title of Bachelor's thesis: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient with a diagnose rehabilitation of a patient after lumbar spine surgery Summary: A purpose of this thesis is to describe an intervertebral disc herniation of the lumbar spine and its surgery treatment with afterward rehabilitation. A theoretical part of the thesis contains anatomy and kinesiology of the lumbar spine. Furthermore there is an etiology of intervertabral disc herniation, clinical symptmoms, an assesment approach and treatment options. A significant part is given to a rehabilitation after the disc herniation surgery. A special part contains a case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after a lumbar spine surgery due to the intervertebral disc hernitation. Kye words: intervertebral disc herniation, lumbar spine, disc herniation surgery, rehabilitation

Kinesiotaping- part of the treatment of herniated intervertebral discs in the lumbar spine
FIALOVÁ, Anna
The title of this dissertation is Kinesiotaping part of medical treatment herniated discs in lumbal area. Slipped disc belong to degenerative disease and we can observe them as an after effect of injury, too. Rising incidence has something to do with lifestyle. More and more person are doing sedentary employment and thay have got lack of motion aktivity. That result in faulty postural habits, degenerative disease of backbone and weakening of musculature. Slipped discs give rise to nerves oppression, pain radiation, painful movement or skin sensitivity damage. In this case punctum diagnosing and treatment are crucial. There is possible to choose both surgical and conservative medical treatment. I have attended to conservative therapy. Theoretical part give undivided attention to lumbar spine anatomy, classification and treatment prolapsed disc in this area. Kinesiotaping as a technique is specify. In addition are mention some extra procedure we can use. My primary aim was to describe theoretical base of treament effect of kineziotaping. Secondary aim was to elaborate 3 4 case history using qualitative research. Field research took place by dialogue, then followed initial and final examination. The volunteer had to sing informed permission. This dissertation can be used both by lay and experts and improve general knowledge of kinesiotaping and slipped disc.
